Project Co-ordinator \ Presales Engineer (Mar 01 - present)
CSC Australia, St Leonards, Sydney

Responsible for the management and execution of small projects, both internally and client based. Assisting the sales staff with technical research and recommendations.

This includes staff resourcing, costing of hardware and services, scheduling, and providing technical recommendations and solutions to sales staff and clients in line with their stated IT needs. The role requires working with several lines of service to produce a quality outcome, and ensuring schedules and budgets are met. Exposure to a wide range of software and hardware has been a major advantage of this position.

Projects have included:
· Developing and rolling out a managed Windows 2000 solution with associated client applications in a 1200 pc environment.
· Installation and configuration of Norton's AntiVirus throughout a corporate network.
· Installation, configuration and upgrades of hand held devices (Palm Pilots, IPAQ, etc) for approximately 200 users on a corporate network.

Other duties have included documentation and improvement of departmental processes, setting up an internal lab for testing and demonstration purposes, and acting as Team Leader in the manager's absence.


Senior Desktop Support Technician (Oct 99 - Mar 01)
Allianz (MMI) Insurance, Head Office, Sydney

Responsible for the day-to-day running of a 12 member team to provide PC end user support to 1600 Allianz employees across Australia. Ensuring that service and quality levels were met. Provide technical assistance to desktop support technicians. Set team goals and promote ongoing improvement within the department. Interviewing and recruitment of new personnel.

The role covered a wide range of services and systems. Including Windows NT4 operating system, Lotus Notes,

mainframe applications, terminal emulation, printing, TCP\IP, LAN\WAN\VPN connectivity, security, and supporting general office and insurance industry software. Provide support to VIP clients and Finance and Investments departments. First point of call for customer escalations from help desk. PC hardware fault diagnosis and upgrades.

Projects included:
· Relocating regional branches and subsidiaries, including HIH Insurance and DirecDial insurance, into Allianz's Head office. This involved compatibility testing and implementation of hardware and software systems to ensure a smooth transition.
· Rollout of Computer Associates' remote management software to all Allianz PC's.
· Conversion from Token Ring to Ethernet network.
· Also responsible for the creation and maintenance of standard operating environments for desktop PC's.

Desktop / Network Support Technician (Apr99 - Oct99)
DirecDial Insurance, Mascot NSW

Sole on site representative for CSC to support the network and PC's in a 150 PC, call centre environment using NT4, as per Allianz above. Also responsible for tape backup/restoration of network data, helpdesk operations, creation and maintenance of user accounts in Lotus Notes, hardware and software upgrades, relocation and setup of IT resources, and improving system compatibility with head office and user's requirements. Lucent call centre management software, plus many other general office and insurance industry packages supported.

Desktop Support Technician (June 98 - April 99)
MMI Insurance, Head Office, Sydney

Installation and support of Windows NT4, 3.51 & 95, as well as IBM mainframe applications, MS Office Pro, VPN dialup connectivity, Lotus Notes, and associated insurance industry software. Many other software packages also supported. PC hardware fault diagnosis and upgrades.

Supervising the die setting team of 5 tradesmen, ensuring projects were completed efficiently and on time. Including scheduling, set up, production, and troubleshooting of plastic blow moulding machines. Standby production supervisor.

Interests

My interests include computers, reading, cooking, fishing, sailing, and bushwalking. I enjoy playing sport in general, and play competition cricket and Oz Tag. I also have a car and am paying off my own home.
